White Tara Long Life Empowerment with His Eminence the Kundeling Tatsag Choktrul Rinpoche

This morning, His Eminence the Kundeling Tatsak Choktrul Rinpoche will be conferring the initiation of White Tara, which includes taking the bodhisattva vows. As Dharma practitioners, we want a long and healthy life, free from illness and disease, so that we can practice Dharma for the sake of all living beings.

Lama Zopa Rinpoche has said: "White Tara is extremely powerful. Tara is very close to sentient beings, like a mother is close to her children. She is very quick to fulfill our wishes and to grant us happiness and a long life, as well as to help us develop wisdom. By taking refuge in Tara and practicing meditation, visualizations, and having faith, you have the power to remove obstacles to your life and to prolong your life.”

As Rinpoche mentions, White Tara is an extremely powerful deity who represents the qualities of compassion, long life, healing and serenity. One calls on her for health, strength, and longevity. Her white color indicates purity, but also indicates that she is the ultimate truth, complete and undifferentiated. She has seven eyes: the two usual eyes, plus an eye in the center of her forehead and eyes in her hands and feet. These indicate that she sees all suffering and all cries for help, in the human world and even in the worlds of pain, using both ordinary and psychic or extraordinary means of perception.

Note that when you receive an initiation from a lama, you enter into a relationship where they become your vajra teacher. We are incredibly fortunate that H.E. the Kundeling Tatsak Choktrul Rinpoche is a fully qualified master whom Geshe Tenley has great devotion and respect. Geshe Tenley requested Kundeling Rinpoche to visit Kurukulla Center for our benefit.

You are also welcome to attend the initiation as a blessing and receive positive imprints. With this
intention you do not receive the bodhisattva vows, nor have a daily commitment if one is given.

Please avoid eating black food (meat, fish, eggs, onion, garlic and radishes) before the initiation.

Information regarding any commitments will be provided closer to the event.

Donations are not required but encouraged in order to cover the considerable expenses associated with this event. (see below).
