Pop-Up Yoga Class with Wendy Cook

Yoga at Kurukulla Center has been on break since the pandemic began and we are pleased to offer it, once again, with this Pop-Up Yoga class.

Yoga came about in ancient times so that yogis would have strong, healthy bodies and a balanced nervous system conducive for sitting and meditating for long periods of time. Yoga is an adaptable, time-tested system and it remains an excellent source of calm and strength for modern times. Life is more stressful than ever before and yoga practice can have a uniquely positive impact on our body and mind, our life and relationships.

This mixed-level yoga class is motivated with a compassionate intention. In this class you’ll learn breathing techniques, active postures, flowing movements, relaxation, and meditation to bring you more fully into your body and the present moment. In increasing awareness of being in your body while becoming more familiar with your mind, many wonderful physical and mental feelings of well-being may arise. The guided meditation includes contemplating themes to enhance our inner good qualities.

No prior yoga or meditation experience necessary. Please wear comfortable, fitted, modest clothing. You may bring a sticky mat if you have one but it is not required. All welcome. Contact yoga@kurukulla.org to register your interest or if you have questions.

Wendy Cook attended her first meditation retreat February 1987 in Southern Thailand and by mid-March was sitting in front of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Dharamsala, Northern India. The meditation retreat at Wat Suan Mokkh had a morning yoga component and thus her lifelong path in both Buddhadharma and yoga began simultaneously. She is a former Director of Kurukulla Center serving from 2002-08. Wendy recently became a flight attendant for a major airline and her dharma, meditation and yoga practices remain invaluable as she navigates this new endeavor.
