Second Year Anniversary of Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche's Parinirvana
On April 13, we will honor the memory of our beloved teacher, Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche by chanting the very precious Lama Chopa Guru Puja and reciting "Chanting the Names of Noble Manjushri". His passing two years ago marks a tremendous loss for not only our center and the FPMT organization but for anyone who had the good fortune to meet Rinpoche face-to-face.
Reading about the bodhisattva ideal, to be able to benefit all beings, can seem like such a lofty goal that we may wonder if it is realistic. For those who met Rinpoche and observed him in action, it was evident that this ideal is indeed possible. His happiness flowed when he could help others and lead them toward freedom from hardship. He would delay eating in order to instruct those who needed to be instructed and considered sleep useless compared to giving advice to those needing guidance. He ignored his physical decline and continued to step out into the world to remind us of life’s brevity and how we must not waste a single moment pursuing temporary thrills. He never showed the slightest concern for his own welfare, yet did not chastise his students for not approaching his level of altruism. Rather, he trusted that we would make our way eventually by following the example he and other spiritual masters showed.
Lama Zopa Rinpoche left behind a multitude of teachings and instructions and inspired the establishment of centers around the world where authentic Mahayana Buddhist teachings are shared. His Holiness the Dalai Lama has now confirmed that the reincarnation of our most precious spiritual director, Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche, has been reborn. According to His Holiness’s observation, the reincarnation has taken rebirth in Nepal.

There are six benefits of making offerings on the anniversary of your guru’s passing away. The Hundred Clear Realizations of the Glorious One from Narthang offers the great Kadampa geshe Sharawa’s citation from Guhyasamaja and Vairochana’s Net of Magical Illusion:
You complete your guru’s holy wishes.
You purify the negative karmas and obscurations collected in dependence on the guru.
You achieve extensive merits.
In future lives, you meet gurus.
You become an object to be subdued by gurus.
You quickly cease your samsara.
